IHK skills shortage – still the biggest challenge

In its Skilled Labour Report, the Düsseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce analyses the current situation in the state capital and provides detailed insights into the demographic development of the region.

The results clearly show that the shortage of skilled labour will remain a key challenge for companies in the coming years. According to forecasts, the skills gap in the IHK district will grow to over 110,000 missing employees by 2034 – more than double the current figure,” explains IHK Managing Director Gregor Berghausen. “Many regional companies are already under considerable pressure to secure qualified skilled labour.
