There has been a shortage of nursing staff in Germany for many years. However, the shortage has worsened in recent years as the number of elderly people increases and thus the need for caregivers also increases.
The need for nursing staff varies depending on the nursing direction and region. In general, however, skilled workers are in high demand in all nursing fields. Here are some nursing specialties in which the demand for nursing staff in Germany is particularly high:
Elderly care: as the population in Germany continues to age, the need for elderly care workers, who work in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and outpatient care, is also increasing.
Nursing: There is a great need for registered nurses in hospitals and other medical facilities.
Critical care nursing: critical care nursing requires professionals such as anesthesia and critical care nurses, as well as respiratory and mechanical support specialists.
Pediatric Nursing: skilled nurses are needed in pediatric nursing to care for infants and children in hospitals and other medical facilities.
Psychiatry and psychosomatics: There is also a high demand for specialists in psychiatric and psychosomatic nursing to care for patients with mental illnesses.
