BMW invests 800 million euros for electric car production in Mexico

BMW is investing 800 million euros in its plant in San Luis Potosí, where, among other things, fully electric cars will be produced. The Group is also pushing ahead with its electric strategy at other plants.

From 2027, BMW plans to build fully electric cars in Mexico as well, investing 800 million euros for the integration of the “New Class” models and a new assembly center for high-voltage batteries in San Luis Potosí.

The investment will create around 1000 new jobs in the Mexican state. BMW is thus continuing its recent push into the electric car business, with the aim of converting more than half of its sales to fully electric vehicles by 2030.
